James Lee Surber

Mr. James Lee Surber, age 66 of West Jefferson died on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home. Mr. Surber was born on August 5, 1949 in Ashe County, NC to Lester Eugene and Virginia Harless Surber. Mr. Surber was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe Surber and John Surber.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Gary Lawrence. Interment will follow with military rites.

Mr. Surber is survived by: Son, Christopher Lee Surber & wife Laura of Fleetwood; Daughter, Lawanda Dawn Griffin & husband Mike of Granite Falls; Sister, Jean Elliott & husband Joe of Winston Salem; Brother, Jerry Surber & wife Sue of Lenoir; also surviving are six grandchildren, Alaura, Taylor, Austin, Lynlee, Aidan, Starla, and a special caregiver, Kaye Elliott. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
