Raymond Johnson

Walter Raymond Johnson, better known as Raymond, age 79 of Jefferson passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Johnson was born on September 11, 1944 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Vance and Sallie Elizabeth Sturgill Johnson.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Johnson, two sisters, Mamie Hardin and Grace Howell and two brothers, Vance Johnson and Jack Johnson.

Raymond was a cherished husband and wonderful father.  He attended Mount Jefferson Baptist Church.  He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to have shared in his journey.

Mr. Johnson is survived by one son, Heath Johnson (Joanna) of Tallahassee, FL, one sister, Irene Baldwin (Crick) of Jefferson, two brothers, Mack Johnson and Bob Johnson both of West Jefferson, sister-in-law, Cindy Hartzog. Several nieces and nephews including Mackie Johnson Jr. (Donna) also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Mt. Jefferson Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Casey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Jefferson Baptist Church building fund.
