Mrs. Alice Weaver Bare, age 88, of West Jefferson, NC died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Bare was born on December 7, 1923 in Ashe County, NC to David Wilson "Dave" Weaver and Gwynne Koontz Weaver. Mrs. Bare was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Albert Bare; sisters, Faye Long, Maxine Wyrick, Lib Wyrick, and Geneva Vannoy. Mrs. Bare was a loyal member of Smethport United Methodist Church. Her many interests included visiting flea markets and yard sales, sewing, and enjoying delicious food. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her sisters and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Smethport United Methodist Church by Rev. Greg Plott. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Smethport United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bare is survived by: Daughter, Brenda Bare Wolf and husband Mitch of Raleigh, NC, Daughter, Allison Bare Sturgill and husband Tommy of West Jefferson, NC, Sister, Wanda W. Bare of West Jefferson, NC, Grandson, Robert Wade Miller, Grandson, Jacob Robert Goodman, Granddaughter, Cheyenna Grace Sturgill; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family requests no food or flowers please. Memorials may be made to High Country Health Care Hospice, P.O. Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
