Annie Wood Brown

Annie Wood Brown, 101, of Fleetwood, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at Ashe Family Care Homes. She was born on April 29, 1923, in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Clifford and Eunice Goodman Wood. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Brown all of her brothers and sisters, one son, Richard Brown, one granddaughter, Vickie Brown Lambert and four great-grandsons, Collin Brown, Jarrett Brown, Kenan Brown and Kade Brown.

Mrs. Brown attended Calvary Free-Will Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship and service. She lived a life dedicated to helping others, volunteering whenever possible, and offering a hand to those in need. Her kind heart and selflessness left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched. She was also known for her beautiful crocheting and quilting; skills she took great pride in sharing with family and friends.

For many years, Annie worked as a cook at Smithey's Cafe, where her delicious meals and warm presence became a beloved part of the community. She also volunteered at Margate Health & Rehab for many years.

Her legacy of faith, kindness, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, Charles Brown and wife, Rosemary of Fleetwood, daughter-in-law, Chris Brown, four grandchildren, Steve Brown (Robin), Chad Brown (Jocelyn), Eric Brown (Melissa) and Ricky Brown, ten great-grandchildren, Peyton Absher, Hallie Tuttle, Rhett Brown, Hunter Brown, Hayden Brown, Gavin Brown, Garrett Brown, Gunner Brown, Josh Hutchinson and Dylan Hutchinson, one great-great-granddaughter, Courtlynn Rose Absher and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 3:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Frank Woods and Rev. Tim Roten. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family respectfully request no food please, flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Kade Brown Memorial Giving Fund in care of Robin Brown; 595 Conley Cheek Road, Fleetwood, NC 28626.

The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Ashe Family Care Home for their care and dedication.
