Arlene (Paisley) Woodie

Mrs. Arlene Paisley Woodie age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior forever, Friday November 16th, 2018 in Hendersonville, NC.  Formerly of Jefferson, NC.  She was born on May 2nd, 1939 in Helton, NC.

Mrs. Woodie was the wife of the late Rev. Glenn N. Woodie.  In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Roe Paisley and Ruby Paisley Brooks. One brother, James Paisley, and one sister, Norma Ruth Barker.

Survived by three daughters, Debra Rose and husband, Robert of Morganton, Linda Johnson and husband David of Conover, Rebecca Winebarger and husband Michael of Asheville.  One son, Rev. David Glenn Woodie and wife Theresa of Hendersonville, NC.  Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Many nieces and nephews also surviving.

Mrs. Woodie enjoyed raising flowers, sewing, and knitting but most importantly her church involvement. She played the piano at many of the churches her father and then husband pastored. Her most cherished work was the church drama she wrote while serving the Lord at Temple Baptist Church, entitled “Standing Outside” Many souls came to know the Lord through the “Play” that the church took to many churches in Ashe County.  Her later work involved hand-made “Salvation–dolls” explaining the gospel to children through foreign missions.

She loved children and ran a home daycare for many years.  She made many friends and was a wonderful wife and mother that will never be forgotten.

The Family will receive friends Monday, November 19th 2018 from 1 to 2 PM, with a Remembrance Service at 2PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel.   Rev. Eddie Lewis, Rev. Keith Woodie, and Rev. Guy Testerman, officiating.  Burial will follow at West Jefferson Cemetery.
