Arthur Lawrence Riddle

Mr. Arthur Lawrence Riddle, age 95, of West Jefferson, NC died on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his home. Mr. Riddle was born on December 20, 1919 in McDowell County, WV to Thomas Charles and Pheba Catherine Yates Riddle. Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Mr. Riddle served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing, playing football and hunting.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Brother Ed Hall and Rev. George Grubb. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Riddle is survived by: his wife, Julie Ellen Jones Riddle; three daughters, Pheba Catherine Blankenship of Collinsville, Virginia, Dora Marie Bare of Delaware, and Betty Jo Sullivan of Lansing; grandchildren, Pamela Carlise, Trish Eller, Mary Sue Lowman, Bobby Sullivan, Mark Sullivan, Autumn Sullivan; 11 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
