Barbara Carter

Barbara Carter, age 76 of Fleetwood, died Saturday, March 28, 2020 at her home.  Ms. Carter was born July 5, 1943 in Ashe County to the late Burgwin and Ruth Goss Carter.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Lemly.

Barbara was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, she also worked with the kitchen guild and various other committees.  She was a former volunteer at Ashe County Sharing Center and Ashe Memorial Hospital.  Barbara was a librarian for many years and worked at Jefferson, Riverview and Blue Ridge Elementary Schools.  Barbara was member of the Eastern Star.  She loved taking care of her pets, quilting and baking.

Private inurnment will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church Columbarium.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ms. Carter is survived by, her niece, Allison Weaver and husband Rick and nephew, David Lemly and wife Jo Ann.
