Bernard Charles Miller, affectionately known as “Buck”, of Lansing, NC passed away Friday, June 14th, 2024, at Ashe Memorial Hospital after a long illness, surrounded by family.
Bernard was born in Ashe County to the late Connie Lee Miller and Mary Lea Barker Miller. After high school he moved to PA to begin work. He owned and operated a mushroom farming business for several years. He later moved back to Ashe County where he worked in the Christmas tree business until his illness. He enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities, spending time with loved ones, storytelling, joking around and laughing. He was a hard worker all his life and attended Pond Mountain Primitive Baptist Church. He was a very generous and caring man and always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed.
Bernard was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jean Miller; four brothers, Daniel Kyle Miller, Elmer Ray Miller and wife Desiree Miller, infant Junior Ward Miller, Harold Wayne Miller and wife Kathy Miller; infant sister Thelma Jean Miller; two brothers-in-law, John Buchanan and James Eller.
Mr. Miller is survived by a son, John Kyle Miller of FL; one granddaughter Olivia Miller of PA; two sisters, Virginia Grace Miller Buchanan of Bristol, TN, and Cora Ruth Miller Eller of West Jefferson, NC; one brother David Arlin Miller, Sr. and wife Sharon Bower Miller of Lansing, NC; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with Elder Eddie Lyall and Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating.

Pall Bearers are as follows: Colby Miller, Damion Pennington, Devin Pennington, Brandon Jones, Connor Jones and Hunter Jones.
