Bertha Lou Kimberlin

Bertha Taylor Kimberlin, formally of Crumpler, decided that she had dealt with Alzheimer's disease for about as long as one person should have too. On October 26, 2016, at her daughter Teresa's home surrounded by family and listening to Don Williams, she said her last goodbyes. It was the most precious gift that her family has ever received. Mrs. Kimberlin was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lucy Jean Mullis Taylor of Jefferson, her father Fred Taylor also of Jefferson, her infant son, Richard Dennis Kimberlin of Thomasville, her partner, friend and husband of over 30 years, Willie Dennis Kimberlin also of Crumpler. Her eldest daughter, Beverly Kimberlin Forbis of West Jefferson, her brother, Bruce Taylor of Thomasville, and her eldest brother, Willard Taylor of Jefferson. Bertha is survived by her daughter and trusted companion Teresa Martin, and her most handsome son-in-law Andrew Martin of Stokesdale. Her precious granddaughter, Brittney Hatley of Greensboro, her grandson, Baby Boy Kimberlin born 04/15/1986, and her grandson William Forbis of West Jefferson. Her sister Ruth Chandler and husband Ed of Martinez Georgia, brother Mack Taylor and wife Brenda of Jefferson, sister Wilma Lewis and husband Bill of West Jefferson, brother Wayne and wife Lois of Thomasville, brother Earl and wife Winnie of West Jefferson, sister Marie Lewis and husband Lanny of West Jefferson, sister Dorothy Miller of West Jefferson, sister Ollie Segraves and husband Johnny of West Jefferson. Bertha is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, a private graveside service with family and select friends was held at Scott Blevins Cemetery. Her family regrets that many friends and other family members were not made aware of or knew when Bertha had passed or was buried. Bertha was always a woman that you could count on to keep her word. As her family we felt it our obligation to do as she has asked us to do for most of her life. Send her flowers when she was alive and could enjoy them. We visited with her and made new memories while she was with us, instead of saying a good bye to her casket. Her final request and her most ardent wish was that we keep her death and burial private. After all Bertha has done for her family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and strangers it was the least we could do in her memory, but most importantly in her honor.
The family would like to express our most sincere thanks and gratitude to Shelby Moss for her companionship and help with Bertha without us even having to ask. You were and still are invaluable to the Kimberlin family. Gladys, Michael, as well as Wayne and Jane, her neighbors for helping to keep an eye on her as well as her home and property once she moved to Stokesdale. You helped us to feel better about having to move Bertha to the Triad. Not having to worry about her home was a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders. Ryland Shepherd for always fixing her car even when there was nothing wrong with it and for not taking advantage of her like most people would have. You all have added feathers to your wings for the love, care and compassion shown for not only Bertha, but for her family as well.
As there is no need for flowers, the family would prefer that a donation be made to The March of Dimes, in memory of Richard Kimberlin; The American Cancer Society in memory of Willie Kimberlin or Beverly Kimberlin Forbis, The Alzheimer's Association or your local Hospice in memory of Bertha Taylor Kimberlin. For some a donation might not be financially possible. So instead if you would just help your family, neighbor, co-worker, stranger or someone in a nursing home or an elderly shut in she and her family would be eternally grateful. Keep Bertha's memory alive with all of the good that you can possibly do. She gave until she was completely given out. Always remember that your time to some is more valuable than money.
Words of comfort and remembrance may be viewed or sent to the family through our website at www.badgerfuneralhome.com.
Badger Funeral Home was entrusted with Mrs. Kimberlin's arrangements.
