Bessie (Brooks) Cornett

Bessie Brooks Cornett age 80 of West Jefferson died Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Cornette was born September 27, 1940 in Ashe County to the late John Henry and Lou Bernice Blackburn Brooks.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Benjamin Cornett and siblings, Jay Brooks, Bunk Brooks, Shirley Anderson, Pauline Tipton, Inis Burchette, Charlie Brooks, Fred Brooks, Harold Brooks and Ivory Dean Brooks.

Bessie loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them. Her great-grandchild, Hadley was her whole world.  She also enjoyed flowers and watching tv, especially Fox News.

Funeral services will be private.  Mrs. Cornett will lie in state from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon, Friday, February 12, 2021 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cornett is survived by daughters, Diana Craven and husband Steve and Donna Harless, and husband Kenny all of West Jefferson, sister, Helen Robinson of Creston, grandchildren, Kendra Craven and fiancée Kelby Costner, Keaton Craven and wife Ashton, Kelsey Spears and fiancée Steven Wood and Kayla Spears and fiancée Otis Watson, great-grandchild, Hadley Spears. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
