Betty Lou Phipps Brinegar

Betty Lou Phipps Brinegar, age 86 of Crumpler, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brinegar was born on April 4, 1938 in Maryland to Ruth Phipps Senter. She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, Marvin Brinegar, a daughter, Susan "Susie" Brinegar Little, a brother, Bill Senter, and a sister, Brenda Waddell. 

Betty was a familiar face at Roses where she worked for several years after being a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and loved to sing all the old hymns. Her church and her faith in God were very important to her. She took pleasure in gardening and even fishing, but she always made time for her soap operas. She cherished her family and loved going to the beach with them. Betty will be missed by all who knew her.

 Mrs. Brinegar is survived by:  one grandson, Brad Little and wife Heather of Jefferson; her son-in-law, Craig Little of Crumpler; one sister, Barbara Prim of West Jefferson; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Little and Natalie Little; two step-great grandchildren, Kensey Walters and Keegan Graham; three step-great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Keith Wagoner and Rev. Allen Huffman. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday prior to the service.

The family respectfully requests no food please. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
