Betty (Walton) Greer

Betty Walton Greer, age 67 of Todd, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC.  Betty was born September 7, 1956 in Ashe County to the late Henry and Rhoda Richardson Walton.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Leon Greer, son, Christopher Greer and sister, Clara Winebarger.

Mrs. Greer enjoyed spending time with her family and reading her Bible.  She worked as a caregiver for Hospice for many years. Taking care of people was very important to her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. J. D. Walton.  Burial will follow in the Greer Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service.

Mrs. Greer is survived by her daughter, Mechelle Greer (Annette Bentley) of Taylorsville, brothers, Dale Walton (Cindy) and Thomas Walton (Juanita) all of Wilkesboro and David Walton (Janie) of West Jefferson, sisters, Pam Blankenship (Gary) and Sue Holman all of West Jefferson, Joy Houck (Barry) of Todd and Kathy Watson (Ronda) of Boone, grandchildren, Gabriel and Isaac Greer and great-grandchildren, Silas, Harlow and Sampson Greer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will be meeting at the home of Gary and Pam Blankenship at 255 Frank Edwards Rd. in West Jefferson.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Greer Cemetery or Blackburn Tabernacle.
