Betty Gentry Houck

Betty Gentry Houck age, 84, of West Jefferson passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.  Mrs. Houck was born on January 18, 1939 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Lee Gentry and Paralea Brown Toliver.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Ervin Houck.

Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, but she especially loved her grandchildren.

Mrs. Houck is survived by one son, Willie Houck and wife, Mary of Granite Falls, one daughter, Donna Coldiron, one brother, Jackie Gentry and wife, Linda, one sister, Ann Phipps and husband, Bill all of Fleetwood, five grandchildren, Chad Coldiron, Eric Coldiron, Matthew Houck, Makala Houck and Holly Hodges Faircloth, eight great-grandchildren, Bella Coldiron, Adam Coldiron, Nicholas Coldiron, Corbin Coldiron, Brandon Fox, Carter Huffman, Cayden Holloway and William Holloway.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 1:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day.  Burial will follow in the Big Flatts Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the service.
