Billy "Bill" James Brown

Billy James Brown better known as Bill age 75 of West Jefferson died Friday, November 29, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Brown was born in Hickory, NC on Tuesday, November 21, 1944 to the late James Paul and Edith Potter Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Susanne Church and an infant sister. Bill was a member of the West Jefferson Church of Christ. He retired from the West Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, and Ashe County Rescue Squad. Bill was best known for driving for Colvard Oil Company for 55 years. He enjoyed spending time his grandsons and was over the moon for his great grandson. Bill was always friendly, had a good sense of humor and enjoyed joking with people.

Mr. Brown is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Peggy Woods Brown, one daughter, Kim Miller and husband Donnie of West Jefferson, two grandsons, Dakota Miller and fiancée, Andriea Villarruel, Cheyenne Miller, one great-grandson, Kayson Miller all of West Jefferson, two sisters, Ruth Bare of West Jefferson and Rita Brown of Creston, one brother, Jack Bennie Brown of Creston; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 2:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Tim Canup. Burial will follow in West Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Badger Funeral Home.
