Bobby Lee Bower

Bobby Lee Bower, age 83 of Jefferson, died Friday, February 23, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Bower was born in Jefferson, NC to Robert L. and Vergie Zell Bare Bower. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Bower, two sisters, Evelyn McGill and Mabel Taylor. Bobby served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Bower is survived by: his wife, Irene Goodman Bower, one son, Charles Bower of Jefferson, four daughters, Deborah Bower of West Jefferson, Regina Hall of Jefferson, Sharon Miller of Lansing & Colleen Bower of Wilkesboro, two step-daughters, Wylene Taylor and Darlene May of Jefferson, one brother, John Bower of Jefferson, two sisters, Betty Goodman of West Jefferson & Sandra Eldreth of Jefferson, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Minister David Lyall, Rev. Bennie Roten and Rev. Dennis Blevins. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
