Brenda (McMillan) Ballou

Brenda McMillan Ballou, also known to many as “Mamma Ballou”, age 78 of West Jefferson, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Brenda was born May 20, 1943 in Ashe County to the late William and Ellen Phipps McMillan.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Janet Sue Jordan and infant brother, James Lee Eller. Brenda worked with dispatch for Ashe County Sherriff Office. Since the age of 16 she worked at Blue Ridge Office Supply later becoming the owner and operator. She always enjoyed going to watch Oak Hill Basketball games. She was a member of Mount Jefferson Baptist Church.  She was very strong in her faith and wanted everyone she came into contact with to also come to know her Lord and savior Jesus Christ!

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Keith Casey and Rev. Richard Baird. Burial will follow in Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ballou is survived by: her husband, Monte Ballou Sr., one son, Monte Ballou Jr. and wife Angela of West Jefferson, her step-father: Lee Eller and wife Reba of Warrensville, and one step-grandson, Jordan Craft. One nephew, Ben Jordan and wife Heather and a great niece and nephew, Lyla & Ryder also survive.
