Brenda Sue (Senter) Waddell

Brenda Sue Senter Waddell, age 76 of Crumpler, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone. Mrs. Waddell was born on July 27, 1947 in Jefferson to Earl and Ruth Phipps Senter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Waddell, and a brother, Bill Senter.

After graduating from Ashe Central High School in 1965, Brenda attended Wilkes Community College and received a degree in Cosmetology. She then began a 50 year career as a hairdresser here in Ashe County. She became the owner of The Beauty Bar where she met and loved on her many clients…often going the extra mile to drive and get widows who had no way to her shop and even helping some of those older clients with their grocery shopping or driving them to pick up their medicine. Brenda loved her church, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she led the singing and served as treasurer for many years. She also dabbled in painting and ceramics and loved attending plays. Above all else, she was a loving mother to her son and worked hard to ensure his success in life.

Brenda is survived by:  one son, Chad Edward Waddell of West Jefferson; sister, Betty Brinegar of Crumpler; twin sister, Barbara Prim of West Jefferson; and sister-in-law, Janice Senter of Crumpler. In addition, there is a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and friends left to cherish her memory.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 3:00 pm Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

The family is grateful for the kindness and care shown by the staff of Generations Memory Care and Glenbridge, as well as the sweet care given by the Medi Home Hospice workers these past several months.
