Casimira Rodriquez Malave, 84, of West Jefferson, formerly of Puerto Rico died on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at the Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC. Private Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the West Jefferson City Cemetery. Mrs. Malave was born March 4, 1926 to Rosendo and Emilia Malave Rodriquez in Puerto Rico. She was the eldest child of eight siblings. She was a strong Christian with a deep-seated faith in God. In her professional career she was a skilled seamstress, cook, cosmetologist and teacher. She was an accomplished business woman operating several fashion boutiques, beauty salons and beauty academies. In more recent years she traveled working as a private CNA in America. She lived in Europe for a short time. She will be remembered for the joy and love she expressed throughout her life. Mrs. Malave is survived by two daughters: Alma Hurd and husband, Don, of Florida and Ruth Smith of West Jefferson; five grandsons: Urayoan Castellano of Puerto Rico, Ernesto Castellano of Puerto Rico, Jason Laudig of Florida, Tim Smith and Wife Sara of Charlotte, and Tom Smith of Charlotte, one brother: Dionisio Rodriquez of Florida, four sisters: Victoria Rodriquez of Puerto Rico, Maria Longoria of Michigan, Domitila Malave of Florida, and Carmen Lopez of Florida. Several nieces, nephews as well as a host of friends also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons: Eddy and Francisco Luis Castellano, one grandson: Bryan Laudig; and two brothers; Rosael and Luis Rodriquez.
