Charles Leno Delphias, "Charlie", passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the age of 68. Charlie was born in Cecil, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1948 to Joseph Leno Delphias and Eleanor Gustafason Delphias. He graduated from Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1974 where he learned electronics as a trade and got the opportunity to travel and live from Delaware to Newfoundland to Bermuda. After moving to Akron, Ohio, he graduated in 1979 from McKim Technical Institute with a degree in electronic technology. It was 1980, when Charlie found his way to the mountains of Ashe County, NC. He opened his shop, Charlie's TV and Antenna, and was a small business owner for many years. His true love became the cabin he built along the New River, a picturesque setting where he raised his children. He loved nothing more than to share his little piece of heaven by the river with family, friends, and strangers alike. A river trip in canoes and kayaks, campfires, cookouts, tractor rides, and games of badminton and horseshoesa"those are the things that made Charlie Delphias the happiest.
Charlie is survived by his eldest sons, Charles Edward Joseph Delphias and his wife Lisa, of Elon, NC, and Michael Leno Delphias and his wife Mary Ann, of Lewisville, NC. He leaves behind the love of his life, Elizabeth Barker, and their children Derrick Barker, Brian Delphias, and Curtis Delphias. He is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Eldreth, and her husband Dean, of West Jefferson, NC, and Diane Smith, and her husband Donald, of Elkton, MD. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Charles "C.J.", Hudson, Sarah, and Jocelyn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
