Chester Allen Shepherd

Mr. Chester Allen Shepherd, age 60 of West Jefferson, died on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Shepherd was born on March 5, 1957 in Ashe County to Fred and Martha Jane Combs Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Shepherd and Wade Shepherd and his infant sister, Mable Louise Shepherd.

His hobbies included fishing. He enjoyed getting in the car traveling around the county and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Frankie Rash and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will be held at West Jefferson Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Shepherd is survived by:  son, Allen Shepherd of West Jefferson; daughter, Melissa Canter of West Jefferson; brother, Everett McCoy of West Jefferson; sisters, Lena Ruth Strope and Mary Shepherd, both of West Jefferson and Georgia Christian of Laurel Springs; also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
