Chlo Dean (Pharr) Turner

Chlo Dean Pharr Turner, age 96 of Lansing passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Chlo was born on April 26, 1927 and raised in Iredell County, North Carolina, to the late David Allen and Mary Sharp Pharr. In the early years of her life she moved to Ashe County, North Carolina where she met her future husband, Jerold Herbert Turner and they were married on July 1, 1950.  They were married for 60 years before he passed away on April 22, 2010.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, 3 sisters and a grandson, Christopher Luff.

After being a homemaker for several years and raising her children, Mrs. Turner went to work for the State of North Carolina at Lansing Elementary School as a member of the cafeteria staff where she retired on July 1, 1989.

Mrs. Turner was a long-time member of Phoenix Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly.  She also had a love for gospel music, finding solace and inspiration in their harmonies that spoke to her heart. In her free time, she could often be found engrossed in word searches and jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her children, Gary Turner (Linda) of Trinity, NC, Carolyn Turner (Joe) of Lansing, NC, Ricky Turner of Lansing, NC, Doug Turner (Sherry) of Lansing, NC one sister, Ruth Pharr of Independence, VA, five grandchildren, Paige T. White (Chad) of Winston Salem, NC, Amy Melissa Godsell (Thomas) of Elkin, NC, Jennifer Testerman (Rick) of Crumpler, NC, April T. Miller (Joseph) of Lenior, NC and Heather Turner (Mike) of Lansing, NC. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Robert Turner and wife, Melba of Trinity, NC, seven great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 1:00pm at Phoenix Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Eller Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the service at the church.
