Clarence Spencer

Clarence Woodrow Spencer, son of Greeley Spencer and Maggie Sturgill Spencer was born April 7, 1926 and departed this life Sept. 29, 2010, making his stay on earth 84 years 5 months and 22 days.  He was married Oct. 4, 1955 to Lovella Robinson.  To this union was born two daughters, Karen and Clara.  He leaves his wife, daughters, sons-in-laws, Allen Parsons and Ronnie Ham, grandson, Tristan and great-granddaughter, Emma to mourn his loss.  He is also survived by: brother, Joe Spencer of Rowland Heights, CA, sister, Ann Brown of Lansing, sister-in-law, Sylvia Spencer and special niece, Anita Poplin. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred, Roy and Carl, Four sisters, Grace, Orba, Pearl and Carrie and one grandson, Blake Parsons. From 1944 to 1955 he served in the US Navy and later in the Merchant Marines. Clarence was a carpenter by trade and was employed for several years by W. R. Vannoy and Sons.  He was a good husband and father and provided well for his family and had many friends and neighbors.  One of his greatest loves was the outdoors.  He enjoyed working outside and hunting in the rugged mountains of Grayson County, VA.  We believe his loss is heavens gain. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 Sunday at Badger Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held following the visitation in the Haw Orchard Cemetery by Paul Sturgill and Rev.
