Clifton Poe

. Mr. Clifton Clayton Poe age 83, of Crumpler, NC died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home. Mr. Poe was born on February 8, 1928 in Ashe County, NC to the late Nathan and Dema Wyatt Poe. Mr. Poe was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Poe and brothers, Adger & Herman Poe. Mr. Poe was a deacon and member of Healing Springs Baptist Church. He served in the US Air Force during WWII.  He was a brick mason by trade.  He loved fishing and farming and watching things grow.  He was a leader in the Healing Springs Community.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Healing Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Kevin Jones, Rev. Herb Parunak & Rev. Rob Brooks. Burial will follow in Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. David Blackburn with military rites.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Poe is survived by: His wife, Anna Lee McClure Poe 4 daughters: Linda Blackburn and husband Rev. David of West Jefferson, NC, Karen Shatley and husband Thomas, Jeanne Coward and husband Sam & Elaine Cox and husband Durwin all of Crumpler, NC 2 step-sons: Chuck McClure and wife Cassie of Mesa, AZ & Tim McClure and wife Emma of Middleburg, FL 1 step-daughter: Bertha Wood and husband Jim of Jefferson, NC Special nephew:  Randall Eller 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
