Colonel Francis

Mr. Colonel Elijah Francis age 92 of Crumpler, NC died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his home.  Mr. Francis was born July 8, 1916 in Ashe County to the late Coy and Lanie Wiles Francis.  Mr. Francis taught school for thirty years.  He coached boys and girls basketball at Healing Springs, Jefferson High School and Ashe Central High School. Private family services were held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2009  in the Wiles Cemetery. Mr. Francis is survived by: His wife Robertine Phipps Francis One son, Ron Francis and wife Glenda of Danville, VA One daughter, Rita Wood and husband James of Silas Creek 4 grandchildren:  Courtney Francis, Sara Kesterson and husband Mike, Laurel Baker and husband Matt and Isaac Scott 2 great-grandchildren:  Mason Elijah Kesterson and Major Weston Kesterson several nieces and nephews Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
