David Paul Bennett, age 62 of Lansing, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his home. He was born on February 20, 1961 in Ashe County to his loving parents, the late Harold and Opal Nola Lewis Bennett.
David was a man of many talents and passions. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours enjoying the tranquility of fishing in the local waters. His musical talents were a true gift, and he shared his passion with the world as a skilled guitarist and a founding member of the Little Horse Creek Band. Through his music, he brought joy and inspiration to those fortunate enough to hear his melodies.
In addition to his musical pursuits, David also found fulfillment in his work in paving and landscaping. His dedication and skill transformed countless outdoor spaces into beautiful landscapes that brought joy to many. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was an active member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
David's most cherished role was that of a family man. He held a special place in his heart for his family, particularly his grandbabies, whom he adored and cherished.
David is survived by: two sons, Ethan Bennett (Emily Hale) and Mikey Bennett, both of Lansing; one brother, Steve Bennett of Lansing; two sisters, Debbie Trainor (Joe) and Lisa Rash (James), both of Lansing; three grandchildren, Tucker David Allen Bennett, Blakely Reign Bennett, and Destiny Nola Faith Bennett; special friend and caregiver, Rachel Neauwer; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Preacher Jesse Ball and Rev. Jim Greer. Burial will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 U.S. Highway 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
His presence will be sorely missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
