David Combs

David Piper Combs, age 78 of Jefferson, died Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Segraves Care Center. Mr. Combs was born March 10, 1924, in Ashe County to the late Columbus and Caroline Combs. A daughter, Patsy Combs and two brothers, Marty and Lee Combs also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 21st at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Rev. Glenn Woodie and Rev. J. C. Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Mr. Combs is survived by:

Wife: Ruth Hodgson Combs

Daughter: Geneva Jenkins of Utah

Sons: David Combs of Charleston, SC and Frank Combs of Crumpler, NC

11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
