David Hart

Mr. David Lester Hampton Hart age 61, of Lansing, NC died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at his home. Mr. Hart was born on October 23, 1949 in Ashe County, NC to Lester Paul and Blannie Darnell Hart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: grandfather: Wade Hampton Darnell, aunt: Lillian "Aunt Em" Darnell and paternal grandparents: Rev. Wells & Minnie Graham Hart. An accomplished guitarist and singer, loved gospel music and performing with family and friends at Creston Superette. The family would like to thank those friends and the Wayne and Blanche Miller family who cherished David.  A graduate of Northwest Ashe High School where he was a sports standout:  football, basketball, & baseball. He earned a BS Degree in Physical Education and certification in science from Gardner-Webb University where he also played football.  He taught science and coached football at Kings Mountain Junior High before his retirement.  He returned to Ashe County where he worked for the Jefferson Post and later operated a mowing service.  He was the caretaker of several cemeteries including the Hart-Ham Cemetery. Mr. Hart was a good neighbor, had a loving heart, and helped many less fortunate. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Tuckerdale Baptist Church by Rev. Honorable Steve Goss & Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Hart-Ham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service. Mr. Hart is survived by: 1 Son - Matthew Hart of Kings Mountain, NC 2 Sisters - Nancy Clay and husband Allen of Lenoir, NC & Betsy Wells and husband Steve of Kings Mountain, NC 3 Aunts - Dorothy Hofmeier of Baltimore, MD, Adalene Gambill of West Jefferson, NC & Christine Hart of Asheville, NC Mr. Hart is also survived by his former wife Susan Bumgardner Hart of Kings Mountain Several nieces, nephews and cousins Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to:  Tuckerdale Baptist Church Window Fund, Hart-Ham Cemetery Fund or Baugess Cemetery Fund.
