Dennis Paul Trainor Sr. passed away at his home in Lansing, North Carolina on March 6, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of dedication and service.
Mr. Trainor was born on June 18, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Miriam Garrison Trainor and his biological mother, Francis Cullen Kerslake. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Trainor, a daughter, Belinda Trainor, granddaughter, Julia Trainor as well as two brothers, John and Michael Trainor.
Dennis displayed a deep commitment to service, honor, and family serving his country with valor as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1962, during which he bravely stood in defense of freedom during the Bay of Pigs conflict. His unwavering dedication to duty and his fellow Marines reflected his character and integrity.
Dennis later owned and operated Lansing Hardware and Trainor Electric for over 25 years. His commitment to excellence and his hard work were evident in every aspect of his endeavors.
A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, Dennis's passion for his team was only surpassed by his devotion to his faith and family. He was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Jefferson, North Carolina, where his presence and his contributions enriched the lives of those around him. He found solace and strength in his faith, and his love for his family knew no bounds.
Dennis Paul Trainor Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering principles, and his love for life. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Mr. Trainor is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Trainor of Kentucky, two sons, Dennis Trainor Jr. (Kena) and Joseph Trainor (Debbie) both of Lansing, his siblings, Joanne Trainor, Pat Trainor, Tim Trainor, Fred Kerslake and Anne Kirk all of Cape Coral, FL, Bobby Trainor and Miriam Reed both of Delaware and Maryellen Trainor of Pennsylvania, son-in-law, Everett Tilley. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father James Sturenberg. Burial will follow in the Trainor Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 5:00 -7:00 pm Sunday, March 10. 2024 at Badger Funeral Home.
Following the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held at the home; 451 Immaculate Heart Way, Lansing, NC 28643.
