Derick Edward Carpenter

Derick Edward Carpenter, age 27 of Lansing, died on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Mr. Carpenter was born May 29, 1991 in Ashe County to Ricky Edward Carpenter and Sandra Ann Blevins Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Carpenter was a loving and caring father, husband, son and brother. He was a hard worker and always a help to others. He loved to be outside and mechanic on cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Carpenter is survived by:  his wife, Miranda Ellison Carpenter; daughter, Neveah of the home; son, Dawson of the home; stepchildren, Kya and Rylan of the home; his mother, Sandra Blevins Carpenter of West Jefferson; sister, Kristin (Josh) Weaver of Jefferson; mother-in-law, Nancy Ellison of Jefferson; maternal grandmother, Juanita Dolinger of Independence, VA; paternal grandmother, Olive Carpenter of Lansing; uncles, Randy Blevins of Whitetop, VA, Doug Blevins of Galax, VA, Robbie Dolinger of Sparta, Bob Carpenter of Lansing, and Bennie Carpenter of Lansing, aunt, Sherry Huffman of Lansing; niece, Alley Weaver of Jefferson; special friends, Benjamin Blevins and Jeremy Loggins, both of Lansing.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service at Ashelawn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, c/o Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 U.S. Highway 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
