Mr. Dewey Blevins Campbell age 87, of West Jefferson, died on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. Mr. Campbell was born on April 14, 1924 in Ashe County, to the late John Thomas and Bessie Goodman Campbell. In addition to his parents Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Campbell, son, Jeffery Campbell, eight brothers and sisters, Lawrence Campbell, Mary Wagoner, Rex Campbell, Walter Campbell, Grover Campbell, Elmer "Spud" Campbell, Charlie Campbell and Grace Goins. Mr. Campbell served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church where he served as choir director. He was also past choir director at West Jefferson First Baptist Church. Dewey loved music and was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout his life. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Friendly Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Wayne Osborne, Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Michael Lea. Burial will follow in West Jefferson Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel.  Mr. Campbell is survived by: one son, Chris Campbell of Todd, one daughter, Joy Campbell of West Jefferson, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
