Dorsey Shepherd Blevins Miller

Dorsey Shepherd Blevins Miller, age 82, of Lansing, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Wilkes Health and Rehab Center. She was born on June 12, 1942, in Ashe County to the late Jesse “Carl” and Rosa Belle Richardson Shepherd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Reeves Blevins, her second husband, Herman Howard Miller and two brothers, Dewey Shepherd and Ford Shepherd.

She spent her life rooted in the Lansing community she loved so dearly. She was a proud and faithful member of Peace Haven Community Church, where she found strength in her faith, deep connection with her church family, and unwavering love for her Lord. Dorsey dedicated over 30 years of her life serving as a teacher’s aide at Lansing and Blue Ridge Elementary Schools. Her gentle guidance touched the lives of countless children and fellow educators.

Dorsey was a strong woman, a loving mother, and a devoted caregiver throughout her life time. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and service. Dorsey’s love for others, her resilient spirit, and the light she brought into every room will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Jeff Blevins (Marsha) of Bowling Green, KY, two daughters, Twilla Phipps (David) of Granite Falls and Jennifer Gambill (Nathan) of Troutman, one step- daughter, Tammy Miller Jones (Steven) of Glendale Springs, five grandchildren, Wes Gentry (Emily), Mikayla Blevins Tooley (Keith), Carly Phipps Bolick (Jon), Gabe Gambill and Ben Gambill and one step-granddaughter, Heather Hardin. Also surviving are three great-granddaughters, Everly Pearl Gentry, Adaline Rain Gentry and Madelyn Grace Tooley one step-great grandson, Gordon Ander-Thomas Cox and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Peace Haven Community Church by Brother Mitchell Mash. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Peace Haven Community Church in care of Christi Wagoner; 360 Vannoy Drive, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
