Clifford Mathieson Stamper, DDS passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. Dr. Stamper was born March 19, 1937 in Glade Springs, VA to the late Grover and Bessie Ida Ashley Stamper. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers, Dr. Robert Stamper, Edward Earl Stamper, Bryan W. Stamper, John W. Stamper and James Monroe Stamper, sisters, Viola Stamper Lawson, Ann Stamper King, Jannavee Stamper Brooks and Shirley Stamper Barker.
Dr. Stamper is survived by, his wife, Judy Ann Farris Stamper, sisters, Rose Stamper Schlisler of Acworth, GA and Frances Stamper Lansell of Tavares, FL, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Dr. Stamper was an avid Tarheel fan. He was past president of The New River Conservancy. His many interests and hobbies included flying, environmental causes, wildflowers, photography and restoring WWII Jeeps. He was widely recognized for his philanthropic service to environmental causes throughout the region and was honored with an award for his service by The North Carolina Conservancy in 1990.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
