Earnest McKinley Howell

Mr. Earnest McKinley Howell, age 84 of Jefferson, died on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at his home. Mr. Howell was born on December 20, 1934 in Ashe County to Richard and Carrie Grubb Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean Patrick Howell, two brothers, Edison Howell and Everett Howell; three sisters, Wilma Wood, Maggie Hamm and Louise Witherspoon. Mr. Howell worked in the timber and sawmill business for 40 years.

Mr. Howell is survived by:  one son, Phil Howell and wife Evelyn of Jefferson; three sisters, Myrtle Adams of Taylorsville, Lee Ella South and Leona Jarvis, both of West Jefferson; one grandson, B. Phil Howell and wife Amanda of Laurel Springs; one granddaughter, Angie Holman and husband Rex of Millers Creek; three great-grandchildren, Emma Howell, Nora Howell, and Dylan Holman; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. Dr. Jim Rash.
