Edith Barker

Edith Irene Arnold Barker, age 73 of Lansing, NC, died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Barker was born September 12, 1930 in Ashe County to the late Wayne and Edith Arnold. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Barker, a son, Kenneth Barker and a granddaughter, Alsiha Barker. She was saved at the age of 12 and baptized at the New River Baptist Church. Rev. Paul Phipps was pastor. She later became a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she will lie in state from 10:00 till 11:00 AM. Rev. Lonnie Carpenter and Rev. Charlie McCoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barker-Eller-McNeill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM Tuesday, March 16th at Badger Funeral Home.

One daughter: Anna Lou Barker of Lansing, NC

Two sons: Wayne Barker of Lansing, NC and Ray Barker of Lenoir, NC

Four sisters: Betty Howell, Shirley Mash and Phyllis Pugh all of West Jefferson, NC and Helen Francis of Sparta, NC

4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
