Edna Mahala Lewis

Edna Mahala Lewis age 93 of West Jefferson died on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Lewis was born in Tennesse on February 26, 1928 to the late Cicero and Vainy Greer Mahala. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, Robert Lewis, son, Eugene Lewis, sister, Pauline Roark, brothers, Walt, Vernon, and Clarence Mahala. She enjoyed working in her garden, sewing, and canning. She retired as a cafeteria and custodial worker at West Jefferson Elementary School after 14 years of service. On Sunday mornings she always enjoyed listening to preaching.

Mrs. Lewis will lie in state from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by: one son, Jerry Lewis of West Jefferson, one sister, Madeline Parsons of Mountain City, TN, four brothers, Fred, Roy, and Billy Joe Mahala, all of Shady Valley, TN, and John Mahala of Stony Creek, TN, two grandchildren, B.J. Lewis (Valerie), Wendy Lewis (Christopher), four great-grandchildren, Cicero Lewis, Theryn Lewis, Emmy Lewis and Oakie James; several nieces and nephews also survive.
