Edwin Sheridan Brockwell Jr. "Bubba"

Edwin Sheridan Brockwell Jr, lovingly called Bubba passed away comfortably on January 13, 2025. He was born in Washington, D.C. on January 9th 1944 to the late Edwin Sheridan Brockwell and Ruby Victoria Mickey Brockwell. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Brockwell Laroque and Elizabeth Rebecca Brockwell Pierce "Becky". He grew up with his parents and 3 sisters in Winston Salem, and attended R.J. Reynolds High school. Bubba was a well known high school athlete with both football and baseball and was inducted into both the Winston Salem/Forsyth County and R/J. Reynolds High School Sports Hall of Fame. After high school, Bubba attended Virginia Tech and was a scholarship athlete where he then transferred to Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. That is where he met his wife of 58 + years Betty. The couple settled in Winston Salem, NC where Bubba was employed at the Winston Salem Recreation Department as a director of a local community center. It was here that he helped begin and establish the Special Olympics program in the area. Bubba then took a sales position at Container Corporation of America where he had a successful career as a Regional Sales Manager. Bubba was active in his church and was an avid sportsman that loved bird hunting, surf fishing and especially golf. Bubba was a devoted husband and friend, he was a doting father and loved by many. He deeply cared a lot for his 3 sisters. 

He is survived by his wife Betty Letha Coble of Snow Camp, NC, his son Trip Brockwell of Mocksville, NC, daughter Tori Osborne (Blair) of Laurel Springs, NC; grandchildren Jeb Brockwell (Trip), Tyler Brockwell (Trip), Bo Osborne (Tori) and Catie Osborne (Tori) and his sister Marian Graham of Myrtle Beach, S.C. 

The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of donations to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown, NC, The North Carolina Beachbuggy Association in Kill Devil Hills, NC or any charitable organization the donor chooses. Thank you for honoring and remembering him in this way.
