Elder Vernie Adams, age 83 of Lansing, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at his home. Elder Adams was born October 17, 1921 in Ashe County to the late Edward and Maggie Powers Adams. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy Louise Finley and a son-in-law, Larry Roten. Elder Adams was an ordained minister in the Mountain Union Regular Baptist Association for 55 years. Elder Adams pastured several area churches and was currently pastor of Three Top Mountain Union Baptist Church. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Chapel Mountain Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Bluford Eldreth, Elder Joey McClure, Elder Tommy Dollar and Elder Ronda Rash will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sexton Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 7:00 -9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 23rd at Badger Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Eugene Seatz, Nathan Seatz, David Brooks, John Roten, Eddie Adams, Tim Adams, Daniel Roten and Mitchell Hart. Dayton Seatz and Justice Adams will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to: Hospice of Ashe, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.

Wife: Lottie Roberts Adams
Two sons: Jim Adams and wife Elaine of Creston, NC and Elder Tom Adams and wife Barbara of Lansing, NC
Three daughters: Lena Mae Finley, Linda Brooks and husband Ralph and Sandy Roten all of Lansing, NC
9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
