Elizabeth Barton Cooper

Elizabeth Leon Barton Cooper, age 80 of Conway, SC formerly of Ashe County, peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Born to the late Bryan and Bernice "Brucie" Waddell Barton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilborn Carl Barton and her husband, Ronald Cooper on Oct. 30, 2022.

Elizabeth, known affectionately as Liz, was a true country girl at heart—a farm girl whose roots ran deep in the tranquil landscapes of Lansing, NC. Raised in the tight-knit community of Lansing, she embodied the values of hard work, kindness, and a love for the simple pleasures of life.

A skilled seamstress, Elizabeth found solace and creativity in the art of quilting. Her hands brought to life vibrant patterns and stories woven into each quilt she crafted. Elizabeth's love for bluegrass and classic country music provided the soundtrack to many memorable moments, echoing the melodies of her rural upbringing.

Professionally, Elizabeth found fulfillment in her roles as a medical transcriptionist and secretary for court reporting in the state of South Carolina. Her dedication and attention to detail made her an invaluable asset in these fields, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues.

South Carolina became more than just a place of work for Elizabeth—it became her cherished home. She reveled in the southern charm, forming lasting connections and embracing the rich cultural tapestry that the state offered.

A constant source of companionship and joy in Elizabeth's life was her faithful companion, Bocephus. As an avid dog lover, she found unconditional love and unwavering loyalty in her furry friends.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by three sons, Roger Blevins (Teresa) of Laurel Springs, Richard Blevins (Frances) and Randy Blevins (Lora) all of Jefferson and sister, Danya Taylor (Marvin) of Lansing. 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 9, 2023 in the Scott Blevins Cemetery by Minister Michael Blevins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scott Blevins Cemetery Fund, c/o J.E. Blevins, 4226 Old Hwy 16, Jefferson, NC 28640.
