Ella Mae Greer Francis

Ella Mae Greer Francis, 71, of Grassy Creek, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Ella Mae was born on April 6, 1953, in Wayne County,  West Virginia, to the late James Ballard and Ethel Crum Greer. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Dale Francis, a brother, Roger Lee Greer, one sister, Tressia Taylor, sister-in-laws, Christine Greer and Rose Ring Greer and brother-in-law, Norman Taylor. 

Ella Mae's life was defined by her love for her family and friends. She cherished quiet moments tending to her garden and sharing its blooms with those around her. Her warm smile and gentle heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Mrs. Francis is survived by her special niece and caregiver, Rebecca Miller (Robbie), six brothers, James Greer and Daniel Greer (Marty) both of Lansing, Jerry Greer of Wilkesboro, Dennis Greer of Warrensville, Clifton Greer (Laura) of Creston and David Greer (Martha) of Ohio, three sisters. Mary Blevins (Frank) and Dorothy Price (Willie) both of Lansing and Letha Davis Pruitt (Ricky) of Creston, several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy Wurth and Rev. Joey McClure. Burial will follow in the Howell Hill Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 pm prior to the service.
