Emmett Russell Lewis

Emmett Russell Lewis age 75 of Grassy Creek died on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ashe County to the late Emmett Hester and Sally Faye Taylor Lewis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, of 53 years Faye, three siblings, Louise Howell, Georgia Shepherd, and John Lewis. Emmett liked spending time outdoors. He was a driver for Ashe County Transportation Authority (ACTA) for around 10 years. He most enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called him “Poppy”.

Mr. Lewis is survived by: two sons, Eddie Lewis and wife Cindy of Jefferson and Rex Lewis and wife Jonie of Warrensville, one daughter, Lisa Witherspoon and husband David of Jefferson, one sister Della Stansberry of Maryland, eight grandchildren, Aaron Pugh (Shelby), Ryan Lewis, Ashton Brooks, Rachel Steelman (Brandon), Tiffany Steelman (James), Emily Grogan (Mason), Paige Lewis, Eden Blevins (Timothy), seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 3:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service.
