Mrs. Eyvonne Zola Roark Stewart age 81, of Creston, NC passed over the threshold to her eternal, heavenly home early on Saturday morning, May 12, 2012. She had been a resident of the Seagraves Care Center in Jefferson, NC. Mrs. Stewart was born on April 26, 1931 in Creston, NC to the late Rev. Keene and Grace Osborne Roark. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Chris Goodman and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband of 63 yrs., Elmer Riley Stewart, two sons: Jody Stewart and wife Katie of Mountain City, TN, Devern Stewart and wife Elizabeth of Mouth Of Wilson, VA, three daughters: Levene Hart and husband Jerry of Mouth Of Wilson, VA, Charlotte McCoy and Benny Wallace of Lenoir, NC, Roberta Campbell and husband Jeff of Flint, TX, one brother, J.B. Roark and wife Connie of Crumpler, NC, one sister, Marilyn Salyer of Jefferson, NC and one sister in law, Geneva Roark of Creston, NC. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Michelle Stewart of Mountain City, TN, Angie Norris and husband Billy of Deep Gap, NC, SSC First Class Robbie Mullis and wife Holly of Lenoir, NC, Travis Stewart and wife Allyson of Warrensville, NC, Adam Stewart wife Emily of Creston, NC, Brandon Stewart, of Fleetwood, NC, and Charity Campbell of Flint, Texas. 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Reba Mains, her brother Mack Roark and her great-grandson Kody Mullis. Eyvonne was known and loved by many because of her wittiness as well as her giving nature. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and shared His love with others. She retired from the Ashe Co. School Systems in 1993 and received the Tracy J. Calhoun Award. She leaves behind many precious memories with her family and friends that will be forever be cherished and lived out in their hearts. Heaven now greets a precious saint that will surely be missed here on this earth.  Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N.
