Frances Elizabeth Osborne Mullis

Frances Elizabeth Osborne Mullis, age 101, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Margate Health and Rehab. She was born on April 2, 1923, in Ashe County to Lester and Queenie Sluder Osborne.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, William Charles Mullis, Sr.; two sons, William Charles “Billy” Mullis, Jr., and Joseph Mullis; sisters, Doris and Nell; brothers, James, Carl, and Junior; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Nathan, Benjamin, Jolene, Kevin, Jeremy, David, and Kody.

Frances enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as growing flowers, bird watching, feeding the birds, and reading her Bible. She found comfort and joy in attending church, gardening, canning, and quilting. Her kind and gentle nature touched the hearts of many, as she never spoke an unkind word about anyone and was loved deeply by all who knew her.

Above all, Frances cherished her family, always placing them at the center of her heart. Though small in stature, she was known for her inner strength and resilience. Her memory will be cherished by her loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by: five sons, Thomas Mullis of Creston, Roger Mullis (Gladys) of Jefferson, Lester Mullis (Kathy) of West Jefferson, James Mullis of Indiana, and Robert Mullis of Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mary Myers of King; one sister, Shirley Pruitt of Lansing; also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
