Fred York Waddell

Mr. Fred York Waddell, age 74 of West Jefferson, died on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Mr. Waddell was born on March 23, 1944 in Ashe County to Edison and Attie Walker Waddell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Christina Ruth Roten Waddell, and two brothers, Sherill and Harold Waddell.

Mr. Waddell was a member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, football, and spending time with all his dogs. His hobbies included bird watching, reading, philosophy, and gardening. Mr. Waddell loved spending time on the homeplace at Waddell Farm. He was kind hearted and easy to get to know.

Mr. Waddell is survived by:  one son, Rodney Waddell of Greensboro; one daughter, Jaylyn Waddell of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Bill Waddell of Jacksonville, NC; one grandchild, Greyson Johnson; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Ken Morris. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
