Gail Harold Dancy Jr.

Gail Harold Dancy Jr., age 71, of Laurel Springs passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Margate Health and Rehab. He was born on January 14, 1953 in Ashe County, North Carolina to his parents Gail Harold Dancy Sr. and Gladys Brown Dancy Austin. He was preceded in death by his father.

Gail was known for his love of automobiles, particularly old cars and trucks and any fast cars, with a special affinity for Mustangs. His love for motorcycles was evident as he often enjoyed riding them alongside his friends. Gail was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. In quieter moments, he found joy in watching western films and relishing a good meal.

Mr. Dancy is survived by his mother, Gladys Brown Dancy Austin of Grassy Creek, his sister, Leona Richardson of West Jefferson, half-brother, Eric Dancy, half-sister, Tina Dancy, two step-sisters, Linda Austin of Mouth of Wilson and Bonnie Jennings of Independence, two step-brothers, Kenny Austin and Bob Austin both of Mouth of Wilson. Also surviving are nieces, Tamara Kearley (Michael) and Traci Phipps (Jamie), great-nieces and nephews, Carrigan, Kayden, Ashlyn, Owen, Austin and Lucas as well as a multitude of other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 3:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lonnie Peyton and Rev. Chris Cox. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00-7:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Chestnut Hill Cemetery in care of Tim Ashley; 969 Willie Brown Rd. Crumpler, NC 28617.

The family will be meeting at his mother’s home in Grassy Creek.
