Gail Proffit Lambert, age 76, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Born in Watauga County, Gail was the daughter of the late Dean and Fannie Mae Miller Proffit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Proffit.
Gail was a woman of deep faith who cherished reading her Bible and was a devoted attendee of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly tending to her flower garden and caring for her beloved goats, whom she affectionately referred to as her “Goat Babies.”
A loving and devoted wife, Gail and her husband were inseparable, a true testament to their enduring bond. She was also a talented cook and baker, delighting her family with her creations and leaving behind many cherished memories around the table.
Gail was a skilled seamstress by trade and worked for many years at Interior Designs, crafting beautiful draperies and other items with precision and care. Her talents extended beyond her professional life, as she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Ashe County.
Mrs. Lambert is survived by her husband, James Edward Lambert; her son, Jeffery “Buck” Todd Lambert (Sherry) of Creston; and her daughter, Kimberly Wheeler (John) of West Jefferson; and her granddaughter, Caroline Hughes. Additionally, she is survived by her three brothers: Wayne Proffit (Janice) of Graham, Arlon Proffit (Yogi) of Burlington, and Morris Proffit (Katie) of Grover. Three brothers in law, four sisters in law and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer by Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Frank Woods.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the local, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
