Garfield James Greer

Garfield James Greer, age 85 of Meadowview, VA died Monday, July 23, 2018 at Carrington Place in Rural Retreat, VA. Mr. Greer was born July 6, 1933 to Arthur and Sallie Coldiron Greer. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings. ​Mr. Greer liked to ride his four-wheeler, hunt and travel to different places. He enjoyed being outside farming. He attended High Point Baptist Church in Meadowview, VA.

Mr. Greer is survived by:  his wife, Audrey Charnock Ball Greer; three sons, Anthony Greer and Phillip Greer, both of Wilkesboro, and Kenneth Greer and wife Tresa of Kentucky; one daughter, Debbie Byrd of Wilkesboro; three stepsons, William Aaron Ball and wife Sandy of West Jefferson, John Allen Ball and wife Melanie of Grassy Creek, and Benjamin Talbert Ball and wife Denise of Independence, VA; two brothers, Freeman Greer and wife Nellie of Creston and Ford Greer and wife Barbara of Pennsylvania; also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Pastor Robby Coggins. Burial will follow in the Fairview-Carpenter Cemetery in Lansing.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018 prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.
