Gene Stanley

Donald Eugene Stanley, better know as Gene, age 78 of Jefferson, NC died Monday, July 28, 2003 at his home. Mr. Stanley was born February 18, 1925 in Ashe County to Robert and Ida Stanley. He was a member of the Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and treasurer. He retired from Sprague Electric Company, and after retirement he enjoyed gardening and growing Christmas trees.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 31st at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gordon Finley, Rev. George Norris and Rev. David Blackburn will be officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 30th at Badger Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Ashe, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.

John Von Runnen and wife, Kristy of Dallas, TX

Great grandchildren: Caitlyn McNeil, Kylie, Jordyn, Jaron and Kole Von Runnen

Brother: Bobby Stanley of Jefferson, NC

Sisters: Ada Duffin & Mae Morrison both of Jefferson, NC and Ruth Lockhart of North Wilkesboro, NC

Several nieces and nephews also survive.
