George Steven Koen, Jr.

George Steven Koen, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family in Purlear, NC on April 7, 2025. George was born on September 20, 1944 in Jefferson, NC. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home, his daughter Valerie Pierce and husband, Jason Pierce, of Coarsegold, CA; and his son, Michael Koen of Atascadero, CA; his sister, Sandra Barrett of Jefferson, NC; half-sister, Sophia Koen of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three stepdaughters. 

George was predeceased by his son, Matthew Koen; his granddaughter, Jorden Pahler; and his parents, Edith Colvard Crutcher and John William Crutcher.

George graduated from Coalinga College and had a distinguished career as an RN during his years in California. George felt his greatest achievement and honor was to interact with his second family at The Old Town Group for over 35 years. George led a life of service to others and will always remain an inspiration to those he touched.

The family wishes to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and the Old Town Group for their care and kindness. A private family service will take place at a later date.
