George M. Yale, 88, beloved husband of Blandina Ward Yale, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, November 3rd, 2005. George was a native of the Trap Hill Community in Wilkes County. He is the son of the late John and Sallie Johnson Yale of Trap Hill. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam Yale and Foster Yale, both of Wilkes County. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Blandina Ward Yale, of Charlotte, his sister, Mrs. Sallie Belle Lycan of Black Mountain, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
George earned three combat stars while bravely serving his country in Guadalcanal, New Guinea and Bouganville, during World War II. He was a retiree of the A & P Tea Company, where he worked for 35 years.
He loved his Lord, his wife, his fellow man, and his church. He had been a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Charlotte for the past 42 years. He was an active member of the Livingston Class for many years.
A more loving husband, brother, uncle, or friend, you will not find. For George was truly a gentle soul. He was kind and generous to all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Charlotte on Monday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Keith Bingham and Ron Riley will be officiating.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 6th, at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church in Crumpler, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Rev. Rob Brooks will officiate. Interment will follow immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church or Memorial United Methodist Church of Charlotte.
