Georgia Lois (Roark) Perry

Georgia Lois Roark Perry, age 90 of West Jefferson, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Margate Health and Rehab. Mrs. Perry was born on September 16, 1931 in Ashe County to John Franklin Roark and Melvina Lewis Roark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmer Perry; a son, Michael Delmer Perry; and all seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Perry was a hard worker and worked at DuPont in Delaware, Sears in West Jefferson, and retired from Leviton in West Jefferson. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Her hobbies included playing cards, gardening, and going to see plays and live music.

She enjoyed being with her family and grandkids and family get-togethers. She liked sitting on the porch swing, visiting with friends and neighbors, and traveling to visit relatives. Georgia always had a joke and a smile for everyone. She always placed her family before herself.

Mrs. Perry is survived by:  one daughter, Sherrie Phillips (Mick) of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Emily Skotthy (Carter) of Raleigh and Sam Phillips of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Toby Oliver. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022 prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.
